I Have a Confession to Make. . .

This weeks confession has to do with my visits to the supermarket. Or to be more specific, the beautiful big display of flowers for sale that my supermarket has just inside their doors.

I seem to have this compulsion to check that all of the bunches of flowers are actually properly IN the buckets of water so they can drink. It started when I saw hastily put back bouquets wilting and dying because their roots weren't plunged back into the water.

So now every time I pass I check! I am often to be found 'rescuing' flowers! lol

What about you? Do you have anything like that, that you are compelled to do?....or is it just me?

This is the second of my new mid week posts under the title I Have a Confession to make. . .

I will be back next week with another confession. :-)

Freeze Frames and Moments of Clarity

"From the kitchen, the rumbling of the washing machine sounds like a distant train. The kettle gathers steam, hissing as it comes to the boil. Closer and much quieter is the soft breathing of a cat, sleeping, and if I listen hard, the almost imperceptable tick of a clock. Then behind those sounds and quieter still, my heartbeat." - My Name is ZING

These moments of awareness. When for a few seconds time seems to suspend itself and you find yourself paused in the 'now' and conscious of it. These noticed things are always there, but we are usually so caught up in the 'running programme' of our minds, that it needs a conscious effort to freeze frame and really experience the background things in our surroundings.

To be able to hear and see these small events with clarity, rather than as a passing scene in the movie that scuttles in front of our open eyes is a precious thing. Being open to experiencing the richness and the incredible depth of each passing moment. Most times these things fade into the nether regions of my consciousness, this week they didn't . . .

I took these photos this week at my lovely Mum's house.

I Have a Confession to Make. . .

I have bought a new mat for just inside our front door.

The old one was black and dull but perfectly serviceable. The new one is a really beautiful colour, a Mediterranean summer sea colour, a gorgeous cobalt blue that lifts my spirits.

But here comes my confession.

I don't want it to get dirty!

So ever since it has been in place, whenever we come indoors, instead of wiping our feet as we used to with the old mat.

I make us jump over it so we don't get it dirty! :-)

Sunshine and Signs that Spring is Springing!

"Sunlight pours through my window, drips down the couch into
a golden puddle on
the wooden floor, awaiting a passing cat."

The sunshine and the colour returned to my world this week, there was a different energy in the air. As soon as I saw that liquid yellow sunlight I was called outside, out into my unfamiliar garden. I have been a stranger there recently, and walking among the dead leaves and foliage from last year was like an exploration.

I was rewarded with the wonderful sight of new life poking through the dark damp earth. Hope personified.

B
eautiful strong green shoots ready and bursting with life force. And when I stepped away from the path and looked closely, there were flashes of colour, shades of lilac and tiny splashes of yellow that looked so delicate, illuminated in the shadows and the pale sunshine.

Buds beginning, shouting of new life to come.

The sky has been blue and everywhere I look there are newly ploughed fields. You can feel the stirrings, though winter is still holding reins the earth energy is beginning to surge! Soon there will be signs everywhere, but for now it is enough to know that is has begun.

I hope you had a wonderful week!

This week I have also joined my friend Jennifer in her 'exploring beauty' challenge .

She asks us to find...
101 examples of beauty and show, tell, list or write them. Photographs, songs, poems, paintings, crafts - however it is that you tell your story.

I have put my own slant on this challenge and have decided to make my list from things I find online. It may take a while! but I have made a start and have a dedicated page here.

If you want to know more about joining the challenge.
Either click on the banner in my sidebar or follow the link HERE.

And The Wind Blew The Colour Away. . .

"Up before dawn. Darkness wanted company so I came and sat with it a while in the gentle
and heavy silence. And as the pale pink light began to seep across the sky it let go of
my hand and slipped away without a word."
- My Name is Zing

I have been sitting at my desk watching as the strong wind pushes against the fence outside. A little bird lands and a sudden gust pushes him from his perch and he takes flight again. It must be nice to have wings.

I can hear the wind whistling down the chimney, such eerie noises. One minute an express train, the next unsettling screams. The wind has found its voice today.

It has been a strange week for me... it has had a strange undercurrent, a feeling that something is shifting, moving around in the shadows. Nothing solid, nothing I can put my finger on, just a note playing there in the background.

I have been dreaming lots too, waking up with collage like snippets that disappear as soon as they feel the focus of my attention upon them. But they leave behind the stains of their presence, lingering feelings that float around in my atmosphere until the day replaces them with other things.

Times like this can feel as though you are peering through a mist, nothing is clear cut, it is all nuance. But I recognise that these are potent and fertile times and only feel troublesome if you swim against the tide. So until the tide turns again I have plunged into the creative waters. I am feeling the urge to create images again and I have been writing too (two poems today). I shall swim with the current.

I am sure I will be back in full colour again next week. :-)
