And then the Sun came out . . .

"The place to be happy is here, the time to be happy is now." - Robert Ingersoll

This week the sun came out and bought a little colour back to the world. So I decided to celebrate by donning some colour myself. . .

It was wonderful to see glimpses of a glorious blue sky. . .

Splashes of colour seemed to jump out at me wherever I went. . .

As always, I was entranced by the view from my sisters kitchen window. . .

and the towering treetops in her garden - look at that lovely blue sky!

And to see the snowdrops bought a leap of joy - Spring isn't far away!

I hope that you had a blue sky week too!

Let Sleeping Cats Lie. . .

"You can become blind by seeing each day as a similar one.
Each day is a different one, each day brings a miracle of its own.
It’s just a matter of paying attention to this miracle." - Paulo Coelho

The weather has changed, there have been glimpses of blue sky and the snow has gone, well almost. When we went out the other day we noticed that by the side of the road there was just one solitary mound of snow about two foot in diameter. I had to smile, because there, huddled close together so that they could both stand on top of it, were two little boys. It reminded me of how my cats are when I bring a cardboard box into the house. Wherever I place it, and whatever size it is, there is soon a queue of cats waiting to get into it.

Meanwhile, no boxes in the house this week, just a sleepy Sammy looking soft and adorable!

"From the kitchen, the rumbling of the washing machine sounds like a distant train.
The kettle gathers steam, hissing as it comes to the boil. Closer and much quieter
is the soft breathing of a cat, sleeping, and if I listen hard, the almost imperceptible
tick of a clock. Then behind those sounds and quieter still, my heartbeat."

I hope all is well in your world. x

And then the snow fell. . .

"Snow, a soft white blanket covering over the stains of everyday life.
All is clean, white, virginal, new. Winter branches bent under the weight
of the decorators white sheet. Everything sparkling, untouched, unspoiled
- awaiting tomorrows footsteps. . ."

This week has been one where my mood has been subdued, withdrawn, craving quiet and distance.
I think of it like weather, we humans have our cloudy days too. The sun can't always shine, and in the bigger scheme of things, I am sure that days like these are necessary too.

"I am wearing a dark cloak today, I feel its weight heavy on my shoulders.
It falls around my feet in voluminous folds, a grey mountain range for me to cross."

Snug indoors, Mitz, Bina, and I are content to let the snowy world outside continue without us .

While outdoors, Sammy plays the intrepid explorer and braves the snow. . .

"There are diamonds in the snow, I see them sparkling.
Tiny lights, brilliant and bewitching. Others walk on by.
Can they not
see the treasure that is glistening there
on the cold and holy ground? . . ."

I hope all is well in your world. x

I am sorry I haven't been around to visit you all lately, I promise I shall catch up again soon.
Until then, I want to thank you for sharing this space with me and wish you lots of love.

Like a circle in a spiral. . .

“I have arrived. I am home.
My destination is in each step.” - Thich Nhat Hanh

This time of year always seems to be more about what is happening inside, under the surface of things. Nature lies dormant, gathering strength, ready to spring back to life when the time is right. It seems that both nature and I are waiting for the sunshine and the lighter days. It has been icy cold here this week and I decided to focus my lens indoors. There is always something to photograph if you look hard enough...

“Do not feel lonely, the entire universe is inside you.” - Rumi

Back here again - same spot different day

No breeze this time and the sunshine has gone.

It is quieter, stiller, more subdued somehow.

Why is it that whatever road I take

it always leads me right back here.

So little done, so much to do.

I think that I may just be

walking in circles
