Walking Around the Lake in the Park . . .

"And gentle winds and waters near, make music to the lonely ear." - Byron

This week I felt that subtle chill to the air as night fell. Looking at the clock confirmed that darkness had arrived earlier, it seemed that summer was having her last dance and I could sense that autumn was beginning its slow walk across the land.

We have taken on board the need to take time to explore, to be visitors, sightseers in our daily activities. No more rushing to the supermarket and straight back home. We are making the effort to be mindful, to take the moments to explore.

Joe having a new camera has helped. As now I am not alone at looking at things through a lens!

We live equidistant between two towns and this week we needed to visit the other, quieter of the two.

I suggested that we take our camera's with us and take a walk around the lake in the park there.

So this is what we did, and this is what we saw. . .

Ducks had left behind soft downy feathers. . .

As we walked, despite the sunshine - I saw my first glimpse of autumn. . .

"Shadows shifting. Soft grass splashed with sunlight. Shimmering leaves
throw down their yellow gold beauty like blessings bestowed.

The green velvet ground at my feet is laden with jewels."

"You never know when you're making a memory."
- Rickie Lee Jones

In the field adjoining we came across these wonderful creatures! - Three Alpacas.

Below: See the funky hairdo! and the 'heart' on his throat?

This handsome fellow stood and posed for a photo after I informed him
that he would be featured on my post for this weeks I Sunday Sunday. :-)

A walk around the lake in the park, but no photos of the lake?
There were too many other things seen on the way round, so the rest of the walk will have to wait until mid week. Please pop in if you are out and about in cyberspace as I'd love to share the rest of the photos with you. :-)

I hope you all had a wonderful week!

If you haven't already seen it, why not pop in and see my mid week post
where I posted more narrowboat photos as promised. . .

Love that alpaca! He certainly is funky!

So did I, Jinksy. Perhaps there were aphids in the feathers.

A delightful walk, if slightly sad at the onset of autumn. Yesterday was the first day this year that I felt it was truly summer, and now it's gloomy again.

Wonderful! You are a great writer, brought me right in to your walk. The photographs allowed me to recognize the definate coming of fall, though here in Florida we still have some time before the "knowing" of approaching cooler temps.

Lovely photos, Susannah. :-)

The ladybirds on the feathers are beautiful. I also like the solitary bench.

Oh these are wonderful! My favorite ones were the first glimpses of autumn. The way you describe what you saw adds so much wonder & creativity to the experience. Have a great week!

All the photos are great, but I too loved the ladybugs, what a beautiful mix of colors and forms. And that white fluffy fellow looks like he might just be a bit of a rogue. Hope you have a wonderful week,

Elizabeth

Good to see you all!

Deb, yes his 'trousers' really are great aren't they. ;-)

Jinksy I am sure that it was a meeting of the ladybird W.I. :-)

Earlybird, isn't he! He was the boldest and most inquisitive of the three.

Viv, yes there is always a little sadness when summer comes to an end, but I love all the colours of autumn so that is a consolation.

Pretty, I am glad you were 'in' on the walk, it was good to have you along. :-)

Paul, always good to see you. I liked the bench one too. :-)

Jade it is great to see you, thanks for your lovely comment. You have a great week too. x

Elizabeth, I suspect you are right about the white fellow! :-) Good to see you and I hope your week brings many blessings. x

I'm late - been away. Your pictures tempt me to go walking, though I walked among trees for the last five days and heard the acorns fall.

Good to see you Harry! I hope you had a good time on your trip away.

The alpaca reminds me of one of those 80s bands like Flock of Seagulls. The haircut is hilarious. Your photos, as always, are glorious!

Oh Selma that made me laugh out loud, I know just what you mean. :-)

Good to see you. x

"...autumn was beginning its slow walk across the land..."

Beautiful. I'm feeling it here too, the earlier nightfall, cooler temps at night...

As always I'm wanting to visit your so-charming world. At least we can move into winter together!
