“I’m going to make everything around me beautiful - that will be my life.” — Elsie de Wolfe

And The Wind Blew The Colour Away. . .

"Up before dawn. Darkness wanted company so I came and sat with it a while in the gentle
and heavy silence. And as the pale pink light began to seep across the sky it let go of
my hand and slipped away without a word."
- My Name is Zing

I have been sitting at my desk watching as the strong wind pushes against the fence outside. A little bird lands and a sudden gust pushes him from his perch and he takes flight again. It must be nice to have wings.

I can hear the wind whistling down the chimney, such eerie noises. One minute an express train, the next unsettling screams. The wind has found its voice today.

It has been a strange week for me... it has had a strange undercurrent, a feeling that something is shifting, moving around in the shadows. Nothing solid, nothing I can put my finger on, just a note playing there in the background.

I have been dreaming lots too, waking up with collage like snippets that disappear as soon as they feel the focus of my attention upon them. But they leave behind the stains of their presence, lingering feelings that float around in my atmosphere until the day replaces them with other things.

Times like this can feel as though you are peering through a mist, nothing is clear cut, it is all nuance. But I recognise that these are potent and fertile times and only feel troublesome if you swim against the tide. So until the tide turns again I have plunged into the creative waters. I am feeling the urge to create images again and I have been writing too (two poems today). I shall swim with the current.

I am sure I will be back in full colour again next week. :-)

Thought of the week

"Patience is also a form of action." - Auguste Rodin

I took these photo's of branches silhouetted against the sky - I thought they were beautiful!

I am linking this post to week 21 of I Saw Sunday
why not join in with us! and
tell us what you saw this week.

Swimming with the current makes a big difference, rather than fighting with however life unfolds. I enjoy the gentle poetry in this piece, your thoughts, and observations. Enjoy creating beautiful art as you peer through the mist.

Hi Jade,
yes you are right, swimming with the current makes so much difference. Something I wish I had learnt when I was a lot younger. :-)

Thanks for reading and for your lovely comment, much appreciated.

Good to see you. x

Lovely writing, Susannah.

You should seriously consider publishing something through Lulu.com. A book of your daily observations would make a welcome addition to any bookshelf.

Thank you for your kind words Paul.

I did actually consider doing that at one point with the entries at 'My name is Zing'. Thanks so much for your continued support, it is very much appreciated.

Always good to see you. :-)

A wonderfully written account of your week, swimming with the current until the colour colour back ... and still brilliant in monochrome :o)

Love the feel of introspection you accomplish with your words and photos. Have spent a similar week with that not quite edgy feeling floating in and around me. It was good to know that I haven't been alone, even though it sometimes felt that way. Really like the quote that opens this post.

I like tree skeletons and your photos are lovely.
I like your observations, too, and they are beautifully and simply expressed.

Hi Elizabeth

So you have been feeling like it too? Today my partner told me that he had been feeling the same way, which lead me to explore the idea that maybe it isn't 'personal' - that maybe we are sensing something on the deeper level that connects us all?

Glad you like the quote, it was written very early one morning last week. :-)

Good to see you. x

Jabblog, thanks very much.

Good to see you again. x

Black trees stark along the sky . . .

And the words have bright awareness.

Lovely words Harry. Good to see you. :-)

This happens to me periodically, and you're right - swimming with the current is the only way to go.

Wonderfully written Susannah. And I love your photos. A student of mine in a recent class said that she always thought "naked trees" were so beautiful. I look at "naked trees" differently now.

Susannah said...

Naked trees, I like that. :-)

Good to see you Jennifer. x
