“I’m going to make everything around me beautiful - that will be my life.” — Elsie de Wolfe

Saturday 11 February 2012

And then the snow fell. . .

"Snow, a soft white blanket covering over the stains of everyday life.
All is clean, white, virginal, new. Winter branches bent under the weight
of the decorators white sheet. Everything sparkling, untouched, unspoiled
- awaiting tomorrows footsteps. . ."

This week has been one where my mood has been subdued, withdrawn, craving quiet and distance.
I think of it like weather, we humans have our cloudy days too. The sun can't always shine, and in the bigger scheme of things, I am sure that days like these are necessary too.

"I am wearing a dark cloak today, I feel its weight heavy on my shoulders.
It falls around my feet in voluminous folds, a grey mountain range for me to cross."

Snug indoors, Bina and I are content to let the snowy world outside continue without us .

"There are diamonds in the snow, I see them sparkling.
Tiny lights, brilliant and bewitching. Others walk on by.
Can they not
see the treasure that is glistening there
on the cold and holy ground? . . ."

I hope all is well in your world. x

I am sorry I haven't been around to visit you all lately, I promise I shall catch up again soon.
Until then, I want to thank you for sharing this space with me and wish you lots of love.
- Susannah x

Your snow looks pure and untouched. Even Sammy's pawmarks are neat and clean. Our snow is trampled and scattered by excited dogs, all signs of smaller beings obliterated.

Keep warm and relish your quiet moments. They're sent for a purpose, I'm sure.

What a lovely collage of the experience of snow, Savannah, just lovely. Made my day to see this. And your companions, OHMYGOSH, I feel in love! Kitties are so wonderful, I have 5 of them!

Thank you so much for this!

I'm sorry you're having cloudy days. The westerly wind to come will soon blow them away. And when the sun comes out, boy will that snow sparkle!

WOW. It really did fall. It is pristine. Like a greeting card. Love the blue-tinged light!

Lovely photos of your "everydayness." I particularly like the photo of the footsteps coming and going :) And there's a heart in there too! - lying sideways... Love the title of your Blog... From Snowy Colorado :)

Beautiful snow pictures (memories of childhood in Canada).

How did Ms Mitz produce such a marmalade boy? She must have had help!

Like taking a deep breath visiting here.

Best wishes Isabel

Your footsteps photo is incredible! They look like tortoiseshell carvings...
It's taken me a while to get round to seeing them- I've been hooked by my crochet hooks, and haven't travelled much around Blogland paths- snowy or otherwise!
I do hope your 'black cloak' has left your shoulders by now. ♥

How beautiful. We've hardly had any snow this year - go figure! Yesterday we were supposed to get a big dumping of the stuff and all we got was wind and rain. These pictures make me feel a little disappointed.

Love Sammy - so like my old Woody!
